Damned dirty shame that the ‘Strawberries’ line-up couldn’t of continued on, and Rat Scabies being more tolerant of the pop ditties Captain Sensible was heavily going towards during that time. I listen to Captain’s ’90s solo albums and just try to imagine how even more excellent they could of been with Scabies drumming and Vanian’s vocal work on certain tracks. Or if they never signed with a major label, as Roman Jugg and Dave Vanian were really on fire there for a moment, only to be tampered by major label foolery.

“Could of”s aside, love their ’80-’84 period, from the ‘History of the World’ single in 1980 up to the ‘Nasty/Thanks For the Night’ single in ’84.

Their recent stuff can also be pretty good. 7 years on and ‘So, Who’s Paranoid?’ continues to grow on me.

My vote goes to Teenage Fanclub. While they did have a college radio hit in the 90s with “What You Do to Me,” they’ve continued to release one incredible album after another. And in the U.S., I believe, they’ve been criminally overlooked.
