It was mid-October 1976 and I was driving my 1974 Mustang north on the the NJ Turnpike on my way into Manhattan where I was recording the Ramones LP “Leave Home” at Sundragon Studios. I was somewhere around Newark Airport when the song burst across the airwaves on WNEW FM … I thought it sounded incredible. I haven’t touched tape since 1999, I do not miss it at all. I must have wasted two years of my life changing reels, editing, fast forwarding, rewinding and doing vocal comps. For a bit more than a decade I have worked in Pro Tools at home in my pajamas with several exceptions when I have worked on a large format recording consoles. However, I do miss the collaboration and camaraderie that went hand in hand with Artisanal Recording. Lovely term BTW. I am very fortunate to have worked on numerous recordings with tape, consoles and talented musicians, I also really like working in my PJ’s.

Funny, I actually recall the first time I heard “MTAF”.
