And how do we know where it ends? Join Dr. Debra Tillinger in an exploration of the art of mapping, from the times of ancient seafarers to the present day. This workshop, part of the yearlong Migration theme at Proteus Gowanus, will focus on the famous longitude problem, a riddle of the 18th century whose solutions included magic and mathematics. We will explore ideas in mapping from Lewis Carrol, Umberto Eco, and other artists and thinkers.
