Tonight! BBP’s Voter’s Choice ‘Movies With A View’ Finale Is…

The final movie in the Syfy “Movies With a View” series at Brooklyn Bridge Park, is tonight, Thursday, August 30, with DJs kicking things off at 6 p.m. at the Harbor View Lawn on Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The nominees for the public vote finale were: “Splendor in the Grass,” “Across the Universe,” “Sunset Boulevard” and “Clueless.”

And surprise! (not so much). The winner is… “Clueless,” the 1995 hit teen parody starring Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash and (the late) Brittany Murphy. The movie screens at sunset.

Movies With A View: ‘Unforgiven’ This Thursday

Brooklyn Bridge Park’s 13th-annual weekly summer series “Syfy’s Movies With A View” is sadly winding down, with just one more flick following this Thursday’s, which will be a viewer’s choice. On August 23, join the masses on the Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn for “Unforgiven,” which screens at sunset. Beginning at 6 p.m., DJ Emch Subatomic (of Subatomic Sound System) will be spinning; while the short film following the main event is “The Hunter” by Marieka Walsh. More info here.

Syfy’s Movies With A View: ‘Barefoot In The Park’ Screens Thursday

Syfy’s “Movies With A View” will feature the Robert Redford and Jane Fonda G-rated comedy “Barefoot In The Park” tomorrow night, Thursday August 9… with only three more films left in the 13th-annual summer series. The accompanying short film is “Love Competition by Brent Hoff, with music from DJ Still Life. The event takes place at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn, beginning at 6 p.m., with the movie at sunset (just after 8 p.m.).

As usual, no lawn chairs, no pooches. There’s a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms Thursday, with an evening low of a cool 73°.

Coming 8/16: “The Big Chill”; 8/23: “Unforgiven”; and 8/30, the final movie of the summer is selected by public vote.

Tonight’s Movie with a View at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 is the 2001 opus (set in 1981) Wet Hot American Summer. Coincidentally, 5 of the stars of that film – Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Christopher Meloni, Michael Showalter and David Wain – are currently filming They Came Together in Brooklyn Heights. Season Opener For BBP ‘Movies With A View” Packs The Lawn For ‘E.T.’

The season opener for Brooklyn Bridge Park’s “Movies With A View” Thursday, July 5, drew thousands to the Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn to see “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.”

Sen. Daniel Squadron, BP Marty Markowitz and BPPC Executive Director Nancy Webster were all on hand, according to McBrooklyn, which also provides the photo from MK Metz. Also in the audience was actor Robert MacNaughton, who played Elliott’s brother Michael in “E.T.” Musical entertainment was provided by Brooklyn Radio DJs, with a short film, “CatCam,” by Seth Keal, who was also in the crowd.

BBP’s 2012 ‘Movies With A View’ Launches Thursday July 5

The 13th annual “Movies With A View” series, sponsored by Syfy, begins its 2012 season this Thursday, July 5, with “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.” DJ Ayres from Brooklyn Radio will kick off the evening at 6 p.m., with the FREE flick beginning at sunset.

The location for “Movies” is the Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn. A bike valet is provided by Transportation Alternatives. The summer series will continue each Thursday through August 30. For the complete schedule, see here.
