Heights Resident & HBO’s ‘Girls’ Guru Lena Dunham Shops Million-Bucks Book Deal

Now you can add “author” to the lofty list of accomplishments from Brooklyn Heights resident and Emmy-nominated actor, director, executive producer, writer and creator of HBO’s “Girls” Lena Dunham. The critic’s darling is shopping a book proposal, according to Slate. “Not That Kind of Girl: Advice by Lena Dunham” is currently in proposal form, with a $1 million price tag attached to the publishing auction.

Dunham has previously published “First Love” in The New Yorker and a short essay in “Rookie,” which Slate calls a candid look at love, sex and youth. She also has more than 354,000 followers on her Twitter feed, posting commentary about her life and loves. “Advice,” according to the proposal, offers a collection of essays about Dunham losing her virginity, trying to eat well (detailed diet journal included), obsessing about death, along with tips about staying focused on work, how not to ruin a potential relationship, and so on. Lena Dunham: ‘Girls’ Just Wanna Have ‘Fun.’

Here’s a tip for BHB followers who adore celebrity gazing in the neighborhood… Brooklyn Heights’ resident and Emmy-nominated creator, star and writer of HBO’s “Girls” Lena Dunham obviously believes that girls just wanna have fun. According to Gawker, the 26 year old is dating indie rock dork Jack Antonoff from American band fun., whose Queen-esque anthem “We Are Young” reached No. 1 in the U.S. and the U.K. this spring.

A Dunham confidante told “Us” mag, “They’re trying to keep it a secret,” despite Dunham previously describing her love life as a string of “multiple gay ex-boyfriends.” The couple recently made a video for The New Yorker together, and Dunham has requested a fun. song for the sophomore season of “Girls.” Wow, politics and stargazing on BHB on the same day. Wowsah!

HBO’s ‘Girls’ Filming All Over Central Brooklyn Heights Tuesday

“Girls,” the HBO comedy starring Brooklyn Heights native and resident Lena Dunham, will be filming in the Emmy-nominated creator’s home ‘hood on Tuesday, August 14, from 3-9 p.m. Cars parked in the shoot area will be towed.

Good luck making sense of the affected streets and corners: both sides of Montague between Clinton and Henry; the west side of Court Street between Pierrepont and Joralemon; the east side of Clinton Street between Pierrepont and Montague; the east side of Henry between Montague and Remsen; both sides of the street at the north and east intersections of Hicks and Montague.

Heights Rez Lena Dunham Garners Boatload Of Emmy Noms For HBO Series ‘Girls’

Lena Dunham might be needing a larger apartment at the Mansion House. The Brooklyn Heights resident and creator/star/writer of HBO’s freshman series “Girls,” cleaned up in the nominations for the 2012 prime-time Emmy Awards, announced Thursday morning.

Among her nods: Outstanding Comedy Series (against “The Big Bang Theory,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock” and “Veep”); Outstanding Lead In A Comedy Series (Dunham as Hannah Horvath); Outstanding Directing (Dunham); and Outstanding Writing (Dunham). The series, which has been renewed for a second season, also garnered a nomination for Casting.

The 64th annual Primetime Emmys will air live on ABC September 23 at 7 p.m. See all nominations here.
